Not Feeling Inspired...At All

This is the conclusion to which I have come (I think...) - taking three weeks off from writing is too long!  I can't seem to get excited about any topic...can't get my mind around what to write...and am feeling absolutely no inspiration at all.  It's discouraging and frustrating.  I kind of feel like this old metal container - empty and a bit worn around the edges.  (love, love this container though!)

Has anyone else gone through this?  Or are you going through this right now?  If you've already "been there, done that", how did you pull yourself out of it?  I'd love to hear your thoughts.

It's as if a switch has been turned off...and I just can't get the brain to work the way I need it to.  I can stare at the cursor on a blank page for a while and try to come up with something brilliant to write, but to no avail for a few weeks now.  Ugh!  I feel as though I'm at a standstill...and I'm not one to sit or stand still!  (Ask anyone who knows me!)

In the meantime, I'm trying to catch up on comments on my own blog and I've enjoyed visiting other blogs and commenting as well.  That's worthwhile and fun, but I still wish I could get excited about writing something here too, you know?

This post isn't meant to be a downer!  I'd just really appreciate any thoughts or tips you have to possibly get back on track?  Thanks!

All my best to you today,

I find myself in a similar place. I had to start by posting pics of the kiddos and recipes. I think I'm sloooowly getting back into it.
Hugs,

Susan, I have had this issue many many times. When I first started blogging I felt I needed to do it everyday to be "successful". Maybe in the scheme of the world, I do. However, I've discovered that the times the words won't flow are the times God has something else He wants me to do. He helps us along the way. When we are to focused on one thing and He desires for us to do something else, He'll block the path to the thing we're focused on. So, take a deep breathe, pray, and see if maybe there is something else He has for you!! When He wants you to write, that is when the words flow!

Susan, I have experienced this too. I've realized that it's because God is trying to get my attention. I'm not saying that is what is going on for you. Sometimes God just wants us to be still and wait on Him.
Many blessings!

I am right there with you. I actually made a list a few days ago of things i'd like to write about. Now however I have to figure out exactly what I want to say, whole other problem! But as one of the other comments said, whatever Jesus wants you to say will be easy to write. I've found that to be very true with myself and will be praying that will be the case for you as well.

I agree with others. When I get in a rut, I can always pull myself out by starting back with photos, sharing posts from others' blogs, and recipes. None of those take much thinking and get you back into the swing of things.

Thank you kindly Ladies for all of your tips and wisdom! I am encouraged and will take your words to heart. I need to pray more about what the Lord really wants me to do with this blog and perhaps this is the time to do just that.

Blessings to each of you!

Hi Susan,

As you can see, I'm a little behind myself! For me, it's more that we've had nonstop family stuff (holidays, traveling to visit relatives, getting back into the swing of school after vacation, and now, various and sundry illnesses keeping my kids out of school!).

When I am in a slump, I find just one funny or interesting story from my day and write about it! I like to think that just how long it took to make my coffee, for instance, can be fun!

One morning, I dropped the can of coffee, spilled it, cleaned it up, got the water, spilled IT, finally made my coffee and you guessed it...spilled THAT!!!

I figure everyone can relate to a morning like that, right? I ended up having something more interesting to write about, but "just doing it" started me writing again!

Hi Cristy,
Oh my! Yes, I've had mornings like those! :)

Thank you for your words of encouragement. :)

Just saw your follow on Blog Frog so, Hi! I also get in the writing drudges. Sometimes my head is so full of things to write I can't do it fast enough, and sometimes I am adrift with nothing for weeks. Usually my camera does it for me. I'm all about the pics - couldn't do it without them. At the moment my camera is out of commission. I drowned it (maybe a post)? Hopefully I'll be back soon. I'm off to get acquainted with you and your blog now. Blessings, Tia

Hi Susan,
I'm glad you are following me on blogfrog! Sometimes I just need to visit other blog friends, and that gives me ideas about what is going on in my world. And if I don't have anything, I just don't post! It will come back.

Thank you Gayle for stopping by! Yes, I need to just sit back and wait until something inspires me and then I will be back to writing the way I "should" be... I hope. I must learn to wait on the Lord!

I'm so thankful for such wonderful people in "blogland"! Thank you Ladies for taking the time to say a few words to me!

All my best to you today! :)

Hi Susan,

Hope you are feeling more inspirted today, but if not, rest in that peace, that your mind is not racing. Take these moments to savor some time.
Sometimes we put pressure on ourselves, and this pressure is not from the Lord, he wants us to rest in him.
Praying for you - you will find your inspiration again soon (if not already).

Blessings,
Janelle
